2017 marks the 47th anniversary of Speedway Digital Printing. Starting from one small quick-print shop, the company has grown to include full commercial print capabilities, with storefront locations in Downtown San Francisco and functional, easy-to-use web access.
The company was founded in 1970 by Harry Newhall, Sr., and his business partner Carl Rubens, both former stockbrokers looking to establish a successful small business. Looking back, SPEEDWAY went through the quick-print revolution of the '70's and '80's; the color Xerox revolution (Speedway was among the first to offer this innovation); the advent of the personal computer in the '80's, followed by the Internet/dot-com boom of the '90's; then the mobile revolution of the new century, along with many other technological changes in all parts of life. Throughout, there were also many changes and challenges in the print industry, including advances in digital printing and the great improvements in large format output. Speedway has navigated all the changes of the last 46 years and continues to provide the quality and professionalism that has been the hallmark of the company from its early days.
Looking forward, Speedway will continue to evolve as it moves through its fifth decade, focusing on the needs of its customers and continuing to provide the best in print communications.
